the day before

Here are some helpful tips and tricks to look and feel your best for your upcoming photoshoot.

drink lots of water

This will help even out your complexion, fix any dry spots, and flush out toxins from your body making you look and feel your best. Bonus tip: try doing this every day, I highly recommend it!

get lots of sleep

When you don’t sleep well, it shows in your eyes. While we can do some photoshop magic to fix this, the best thing to do is to go to bed a little earlier than usual and make sure you are well rested.

avoid sugar

This one is a bummer, but try to avoid eating or drinking anything that will irritate your skin or cause you to break out. You can reward yourself with ice cream after the photoshoot!

don't take risks

While typically I am all about taking risks, try to have a calm day before the photoshoot. If you’ve never skateboarded before but you want to learn, maybe the day before your photoshoot isn’t the best time to try. Avoid anything that may cause black eyes.

confirm the day

You will receive a text from me confirming the day, time and location of the photoshoot, but it never hurts to reach out to any photographer you will be working with to confirm your photoshoot the day before.

pick your outfits

The more clothing options the better! I always recommend to wear what you would wear out on a date. Find outfits that you would like to wear for your photoshoot and try them on to make sure you are still happy with the way they make you feel. Wear what makes you feel confident, that will show in your images. Newer clothes are recommended because they are less faded and worn. Also make sure your clothes are ironed and ready to wear.

But what do I do with my hands!?

Here are some ideas of items to bring. Dressing in a way that feels comfortable will help you feel confident in front of the camera. Do not feel the need to bring everything listed. I highly recommend going through your closet for items that you already own as long as your clothes are still in good shape.

props

People always ask what should they do with their hands. Props are a great solution! Are you a big coffee drinker, or do you love to read? Maybe you're a big bike rider or love your car! No prop is too big or small for a photoshoot! Want to bring your pet elephant to the photoshoot, that would be amazing!

location

Are you looking for new photos for your business or doing a fun photoshoot for your personal blog? Maybe you are looking to start a new romance and want photos to convey your personality. Not only does a location add visual interest to the photo, but the right location can add an active element to your photos.

accessorize

Don't forget about the little details. Accessories make an outfit look polished and elevate the whole ensemble. A little bling goes a long way,  but you can never have too much! It is better to bring too much than not enough when it comes to accessories.

hats

Hats are a great addition because they can be used as an accessory or a prop. When not on your head, you can hold your hat in your hands and it gives you two different looks.

classic white shirt

Looks great on everyone and can pair well with many looks. Just make sure there are no unwanted stains in your crisp white tee

flowy top or dress

Something that drapes nicely can compliment many different body types. Also, they look great when moving! Clothing that drapes off the body bring a level of elegance to your photos.

layers

A quick and easy way to change up your look. Vest and kimonos help add movement to the images as well!

your favorite top

Your favorite shirt is your favorite for a reason. It’ll make you look great and feel great too!

light sweater

Versatile because they can be worn all year long and give a more approachable and casual look, while not being as casual as a t-shirt.

button down shirt

Botton down shirts can be dressed up, or left open for a more casual look. Make sure that the buttons do not open up in spots they shouldn’t. I recommend bringing something to wear under button down shirts, just incase.

jackets

Blazers often portray confidences a work, but a denim jacket and a hoodie can be more playful and add a pop of color to your outfit. Leather jackets are a classic cool look.

makeup

Wear minimal makeup to the photoshoot, but bring your makeup bag with you for easy touchups or a quick day to night change.
